Taxwerx was founded by Matt Hutcheon, who has been preparing personal and small business taxes in Canada for more than 25 years. We've dealt with everything from people with one T4 slip, through to people with multiple businesses and garbage bags of receipts (yes, really!).
We are driven by the desire to make taxes less stressful and more convenient, so that you have more time and energy to spend doing whatever it is you’d rather be doing. In other words: we do what we do, so that you can better do what you do, whether that’s family time, hobbies, business, gaming, the arts, etc.. That's why we're striving to make your #lifelesstaxing.
We offer a convenient, fully-digital interaction, but provide personal, individualized service and advice to each client. Security and confidentiality are of the utmost importance to us.

Matt Hutcheon has been advising entrepreneurs, non-profits, First Nations and individuals for more than 25 years. A graduate of Queen’s University’s Bachelor of Commerce program, Matt is passionate about ensuring financial information helps organizations and individuals perform better, and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with understanding their finances.
Born and raised in Kingston, ON, Matt has helped make accounting and tax a family business. His dad is a CPA, and his sister is a bookkeeper who has worked with Matt for many years. He operated Vista Enterprises, a bookkeeping and tax firm, for 18 years before selling it to become the CEO of the Greater Kingston Chamber of Commerce.
Matt moved to Prince George, BC in 2014 and served as the Executive Director of Innovation Central Society, a regional technology accelerator, before returning full-time to financial consulting and the launch of Taxwerx. He loves the perfect mix of professional opportunity and lifestyle that living in Prince George with his spouse and daughter offers. Matt is a member of the Board of Directors of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce, is the President of the Canada Jaycee Foundation, and the treasurer of his daughter’s school Parent Advisory Committee.
