Client Case Study: From Owing $3,700 To Getting $2,100 Back!
Sometimes, clients first come to us to help fix things that have gone wrong with their past tax filings. In the fall of 2016, Tim P. received a nasty surprise when CRA reassessed his 2015 return and were now wanting him to pay over $3,700!
Tim had filed his own taxes for 2015 but unfortunately had put some information in the wrong places on the return. Business income and expenses were put in the wrong place (easy to do...these damn tax forms are confusing!), as well as a few other things not being reported where they should.
We were able to review Tim's original filing, and the CRA reassessment, and determine all of the corrections that were needed to get his return filed properly. We looked after filing the amendments with CRA, and soon Tim went from owing $3,700, to getting a refund of more than $2,100!
